The Colosseum Archaeological Park

The “The Colosseum Archaeological Park” was established in 2017 with the task of protecting and giving value to the central archaeological area of Rome, a homogeneous and uniform territory despite the multiplicity of places it contains. It includes some of the most important Ancient Rome’s monuments and archaeological and landscape areas: the Palatine, symbolic place linked to the foundation of Rome and, at a later time, seat of the Imperial Palaces from Augustus onwards; the Roman Forum, the political, economic, religious and civil heart of the ancient city; the Colosseum, the largest spectacle site during the Roman Empire, now a world icon; the Domus Aurea, luxurious and lavish residence of the Emperor Nero; the Arch of Costantine and the Meta Sudans, which respectively are the monument erected by Costantine after the legendary battle of Ponte Milvio and the fountain built by the Flavians to complete the urban layout of this area.
