The construction of the largest amphitheater in the Roman Empire was born by the will of the three Flavian emperors: it was begun by Vespasian in 70 AD, inaugurated under his son Titus in 80 AD and completed under the second son Domitian. Built on the remains of the hated Domus Aurea, it was a building designed to change the relationship between power and people forever: fun and distraction offered to the people for free. It was used to show gladiator fights and hunting scenes with exotic and ferocious animals. It is estimated that it could contain up to about 70 thousand people; the shows became occasions to amaze and control the people through an unprecedented deployment of special effects. Through the virtual visit it will be possible to discover the incredible engineering techniques that allowed the Romans to build this huge historically significant structure that has been handed down to us.
